From Ahmad Ibrahim, Lokoja
The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul has decried the sporadic shootings across Lokoja metropolis by armed thugs on Monday as disturbing, and serious threats to peaceful coexistence, urging the law enforcement agents to take decisive steps to halt the ugly trend.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja yesterday, Mr. Abdul wondered why some hoodlums would be freely combing the ancient city, disturbing public peace with the state government taking no step to halt the problem.
He therefore stressed the need for the law enforcement agents in the state to be alive to their responsibilities, by probing the unnecessary killings of some innocent citizens, and shooting of Mr. Emmanuel Adeyemi of The Sun Newspaper, with a view to bringing the perpetrators of the dastardly acts to justice.
While condemning the looting of warehouses across Lokoja metropolis and shooting of law abiding citizens by armed thugs, the activist further lampooned the government for keeping unnecessary foodstuffs and materials meant to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
