Follow Me Talk Human Rights and Anti-Intimidation Initiative, a human rights body has appealed to relevant security agencies to properly investigate the allegations leveled against Chief Felix Ekunie (Ikpemalueziokwu Nnobi).
In a statement made available to Peoples Daily signed by Mr. Francis Pamber (Wakawaka) he called for due process and professionalism in the investigation with security agencies reminded to uphold their duty to conduct impartial and thorough investigations before taking any action.
It posited that arrests or actions based on unverified claims will constitute a breach of due process and an abuse of power.
Continuing, the statement noted that Chief Ekunie had an unblemished reputation and categorically denies all accusations of criminal activity.
It stated that his record remains untarnished with no history of illegal dealings.
He however, challenged those leveling these accusations to present verifiable evidence to the appropriate authorities, saying that any unfounded allegations will be treated as malicious and defamatory.
He warned that any further harassment, intimidation, or defamation against Chief Ekunie will result in legal actions and public exposure.
He urged security agencies to remain neutral and ensure their actions were guided solely by evidence and not influenced by personal or political interests.
According to the statement, “Chief Felix Ekunie, a man of integrity and proven success, has been targeted due to envy and fears surrounding his potential leadership aspirations, including rumored candidacy for the position of President General (PG) in his community. These baseless actions are clearly attempts to tarnish his reputation and derail his aspirations.
“This statement serves as an open platform for anyone with credible, evidence-backed accusations against Chief Ekunie to present them to the appropriate authorities for investigation. However, it must be noted that Chief Felix Ekunie categorically denies any allegations and maintains his innocence and integrity.
“We stand resolutely with Chief Felix Ekunie and will continue to defend his rights and integrity. Relevant authorities and the general public are urged to take note of this situation and ensure justice prevails. Let this serve as both a defense of Chief Ekunie’s character and a warning to those who seek to act against him unjustly” he stated.
