A young aspirant, Abdulraman Haske has lauded what he described as the practical implementation of the “Not Too Young To Run” Act, citing a 50% reduction in his nomination fees as evidence of the country’s evolving democratic space.
Haske disclosed that he received a N20 million Naira discount on his expression of interest and nomination forms, a move he credited to the party’s commitment to youth inclusion and the tireless efforts of the bill’s original advocates.
The aspirant also used the platform to dispel widespread rumours, which suggest that the party would favour a single consensus candidate, even as he praised President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a competitive environment.
“Today, he has proven to the world that he is a true democrat,” the aspirant said. “He has shown leadership by allowing everybody to participate and show their strength.”
He further extended appreciation to the National Working Committee (NWC) and the party’s administrative organs for maintaining a smooth and transparent process.
Haske, who noted that while his primary focus remains on his constituency in Adamawa State, also addressed a message to the broader Nigerian youth population, urging them to shift from spectators to active competitors.
The aspirant asserted that young Nigerians possess the capacity to lead and are prepared for the rigors of the upcoming primaries.
“My advice to all Nigerian youth—not just in Adamawa—is that everybody should participate.
“Participation alone is not enough; we should compete as well and show our strength,” he stated.
The aspirant concluded by welcoming “engaging primaries”, vowing that the younger generation is ready to demonstrate its leadership capacity on the national stage.
