Adamawa Assembly summons Deputy Gov, SSG, Commissioner over finances, insecurity

Three top officials of the Adamawa state government have been summoned by the state Assembly for questioning over the state’s finances and insecurity challenge.
Resuming from six weeks recess on Monday the legislators, at a plenary session, expressed displeasure with the ways these officials are handling affairs of departments under them, directing them to make appearances today(Tuesday).
These top government official are the Deputy Govenor, Engr Matins Babale who also oversees the ministry of special duties, the commissioner for finance, Honourable Sali Yunusa and the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Umar BUba Bindir.
The Deputy Governor and commissioner of special duties are summoned by the House in connection with present insecurity in the state and role of the ministry in the he distribution and disbursement of funds and relief material meant for displaced person in the state.
The House noted, with dismay, the way and manner the ministry is handling relief materials, resulting in the relief materials being sold in open market in the state.
The House also wants the ministry to clarify measure been adopted by the state government, in collaboration with the security agencies to halt the increasing rate of killings the state.
They legislators said they are tired of sending relief materials, noting that instead, adequate measure should be taken to ensure lasting peace in the state.
It added that for now, five to six local government areas in the Southern senatorial district in the state are “no go areas” as herdsmen/farmers crisis continue to rear its ugly head.
The Commissioner for Finance, Sali Yunusi, is being invited to the House to provide detailed statement of active and dormant state of accounts and revenue accrued to the state between January and July 2018.
The House also ordered the Commissioner was ordered to come along with him all the executive officers connected with the Internally Generated Revenue Board and Executive chairman of the board.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Umar Bindir, is summoned to
clarify 6billion Naira multi sectoral world bank grant to the state government.

The House directed that all the officers should appear in their persons, not through
proxy.
