The newly inaugurated Adamawa state Broadcast Media Managers Forum has pledged to tackle all challenges militating against the smooth operation of broadcast media outfits in the state.
The forum disclosed the development through a communique issued after its maiden meeting in Yola weekend stressing that the formation of the body was informed to ensure uninterrupted flow of information to the general public.
In the communique signed by the its chairman and secretary, Muhammad El-Yabuku(Managing Director, Gotel TV/Radio station and Umar Sambo Abubakar (G/M,Pullaku FM Radio Yola),the forum maintained that it came in being to foster unity,mutual understanding and development through cooperate synergy .
“The meeting underscored the role of broadcast media towards moulding public opinion and setting agenda for discourse by the people and not to be a machinery for political propaganda but a veritable platform to bridge the gap between the people and government for good governance.
“Members of the forum expressed commitment to mobilise people towards promoting self-help initiatives so as to compliment government’s efforts in developing the state.
“Our forum stressed the need for a robust partnership and mutual relationship between the state and broadcast media outlets for promotion of developmental reportage and democratic values”, the Forum explained.
