In an effort to boost agricultural sector, the Adamawa state government on (Wednesday)distribute 45,000 chickens, poultry feeds and equipment’s to farmers in the state with a view to encouraging them to invest heavily in the area .

The development was disclosed by the state coordinator of MDG in the state, Alhaji Adamu Garbajo, at the occasion of the distribution of the farming implement stressing that, the measure was under the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme co-sponsored by MDG and the state government.

Garbajo said over 2,000 poultry farmers from five local government areas benefited from the programmer in the state which included six months training programmer.

Earlier, in his speech, the CCT Project Manager, Malam Abubakar Musa, lauded the state government for co funding the programmer which he said would go a long way in empowering farmers in the state.

Musa urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the opportunity provided them to better their lives and that of their families, even that of the country at large.

Governor Murtala Nyako, in his remarks, said the measure was in line with his administration effort to empower the ordinary man in the state, adding that poultry was much needed in Adamawa, towards meeting the egg and chicken meat (broilers) demands of the state.

Some of the beneficiaries interviewed by correspondent in Yola expressed delight over the gesture, describing it as right step into the right direction by both Adamawa state government and the MDGs respectively.
