The Adamawa State government has commenced the payment of scholarship to its indigenous students after a seven years stoppage by previous administrations in the state.
National President of the National Union of Adamawa State Students ,NUADSS,Comrade Gaddafi Hussaini disclosed the development in Yola Monday at a press conference, expressing gratitude of the students to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s led administration for the gesture.
Comrade Hussaini announced that the union has been pushing for a long time for the return of scholarship to students since the era of past governments until the emergence of Governor Fintiri where it screened beneficiaries and started payments on the 22nd January,2020.
“Our Union had pursued this issue of scholarship for more than 7 years all to no avail,not for complications or lack of funds but not prioritised until the coming of this administration under Governor Fintiri”Hussaini stated
According to him, about 26,000 students were screened explaining that University students are being paid N15,000 while polytechnic students are receiving N7,500 each respectively.
On the students yet to paid,Comrade Hussaini appealed to them to be patient as the state scholarship Trust Funds is working assiduously to ensure all students captured are paid.
“For my dear colleagues that are yet to receive payment as a result of Bank’s network challenge should be patient as Adamawa state scholarship trust Funds will surely act on the matter and everyone will be paid the soonest.
“I will like to use this medium to thank and assure His Excellency,RT.Hon.Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri that the Adamawa state students are 100% in support of his administration “.Comrade Hussaini pledged
