Adamawa govt. suspends termination of workers appointment by ex-Gov. Bindow

The Adamawa State government has announced the suspension of the controversial termination of some workers employed by the administration of former Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibril in the state.
Director,General Media and Communications,Mr.Solomon Kumangar made the announcement in Yola Wednesday while reacting to a press conference addressed by the aggrieved sacked workers accusing the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s led government of victimisation.
Kumangar said the employment issue was the creation of the previous administration under Governor Jibrilla where our unemployed youths were hastily engaged at the last days of his government as due process was not followed.
Kumangar added that the visitation committee appointed by the present government looked into the matter and recommended that certain action including sacking of those not qualified for the job.
He explained that the process adopted by the committee was full of abnormalities which called for the stoppage of the exercise so that corrections and adjustments can be made where necessary.
He stated that the Head of Civil Service has been directed to have an inter face with the management of Adamawa state Polytechnic Yola (SPY) and the visitation panel for better approach to the controversial disengagements.
In a related development, the affected sacked workers from Adamawa State Polytechnic Yola have issued a five days ultimatum to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s led government to reserve the decision of sacking over 300 workers and pay seven months’ salary arrears or face their wrath.
Spokesman of the unpaid workers,Mr.Faisal Baba at a press conference accused Governor Fintiri’s administration of not paying them their wages for 7 months and sacking over 300 workers without advancing any cogent reasons.
Baba lamented that when the visitation panel invited some of their members,they staged a protest and matched to government House where the Deputy Governor,Chief Crowther Seth promised that government would looked in to their plight with sincerity of purpose.
According to him, to their shock and dismay despite the lack of payment of salaries by the government, some of them were served with sack letters without any reasons attached.
He however appealed to Adamawa Assembly, traditional leaders in the state and other stakeholders to intervene in their matter with a view to according them justice and fairness.
