In an aggressive move to checkmate illegal drugs business and consumption in the country, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),Adamawa state command has seized 2,742,358 Kg of assorted illicit drugs in the state.
State commandant of the Agency,Mr.Yakubu Kibo disclosed the development at a press conference in Yola Tuesday stressing that his command in the last six months has also arrested 77 suspects, out of which 26 were convicted and sentenced for various jail terms.
Kibo stated that the parley was part of activities to mark the United Nations International Day Against Drugs and Illicit trafficking in the state.. Which is today 26th June,2018.
According to him, seizure comprises ; tramadol tablet/capsules, canabis, cough syrup and pentazocine injection among others.
He urged parents to join hands with the agency in the war against drug abuse in the society.
According to him, the agency in the state is facing challenges of inadequate operational vehicles which is affecting their optimum operation.
