Adamawa Police arrest 2 kidnap kingpins

The Adamawa State Police Command said it has has apprehended two out of a 6 man kidnapping syndicate that have been terrorising the state for some times now.
Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Yola yesterday ,the spokesman of the Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said that the new strategies adopted by the operatives under the leadership of Commissioner of Police,Mr Audu Adamu Madaki made it possible for their arrest.
Nguroje explained that some time back the 6 man gang of kidnappers abducted a famous business mogul in Yola Ultra-Modern Market,A.D Bashar at his cattle farm and whizzed him away to unknown destination but later released him after collecting N20 million as ransom.
Nguroje added that four of the gang members including their leader are still at large while one Bello Abdullahi and their armourer were arrested when patrol by detectives in the state metropolitan.
He therefore called on people in the state to always assist the police and other security agencies with useful information on any suspicious acts .
Answering questions from journalists, one of suspects ,Bello Abdullahi,20 years old from Damaru in Yobe State said they were part of the six man gang that kidnapped Alhaji A.D Bashar few months ago.
Abdullahi stated that the herder of Alhaji A.D Bashar convened with them to get him kidnapped for money which they succeeded when he was at his farm to check on his herds of cattle .
Abdullahi who was regretting his action confessed that out the ransom,he was given N450,000 as his share which he used to purchase a 10 herds of cows which he kept in his village.
Similarly Nguroje announced that professor Felix Ilesanmi of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning,Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola has been released by his abductors.
Nguroje stressed that professor Ilesanmi was kidnapped at his residence at the professorial quarters of the University last week Thursday in the evening.
He also reiterated the commitment of the force in the state to protecting lives and properties of all citizens maintaining that even the abductors of the professor released him due pressure on their trail by the police.
