The Adamawa state Government has confirmed the outbreak of Lassa fever with one reported death case of a victim in the state .
State Ministry of Health made the announcement through its information officer,Mr. Abubakar Muhammad yesterday after a crucial meeting with all medical stakeholders in the state .
Muhammad said report had shown that the late patient was an indigene of Adamawa state but working in Taraba state capital and was brought for medication at a private hospital named Peace Hospital until his condition got worse and was taken to Federal Medical Centre Yola.
Muhammad added that the victim died at the FMC Yola while being treated.
He stated that investigation by a medical team has established that 81 people including his family members, medical personnel and his friends had contact with him before his demise and are therefore placed under observation to curtail its spread.
The information officer explained that a diagnosis centre have since been introduced in the state calling on people to report any suspicious aliment with symptoms of Lassa fever for immediate attention.
He also charged citizens to be wary of their environment by ensuring it is clear and good for cohabitation.
