The African Democratic Congress, (ADC), has said it’s too early to decide who becomes its 2027 presidential candidate.

Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC interim National Publicity Secretary, said it’s focused on building a strong political party.

Speaking in Abuja during the weekend, Abdullahi said the ADC has no preferred presidential candidate.

He said: “We don’t have any favourite aspirants or candidates. We are not having any conversation at the moment.

“Nobody has ever had any conversation about who will be the party’s flag bearer.

“We believe that it is too early in the day. Our focus now is to build a political party that is strong enough to deliver on the mission that we have set for ourselves.”

Currently, three names are rumoured to be interested in ADC’s presidential ticket.

These names include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

Despite permutations, the three key members of the coalition are yet to openly declare their intentions.
