The African Democratic Congress, (ADC), has denied plans to conduct congresses in some states, warning members to disregard invitations allegedly being circulated by certain individuals.
The party made its position known in a public notice issued on Thursday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the leadership of the party became aware of moves by some persons to organise congresses in parts of the country despite an existing court ruling.
The ADC maintained that no congresses would be held until the tenure of the current executives expires, in line with a subsisting judgment of the Federal High Court.
“Attention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been drawn to a purported plan by some individuals to convene congresses in certain states,” the statement read.
“We wish to clarify that, based on the subsisting ruling of the Federal High Court, the ADC is not conducting any congresses until the tenure of the current executives expires.”
The party further urged loyal members to avoid participating in any unauthorised gathering, alleging that the planned congresses were aimed at creating confusion and destabilising the party.
The development comes amid growing political activities and internal realignments within opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
