The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named David Amapakaye Okumgba as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, who described Okumgba as an accomplished businessman, seasoned administrator and experienced political figure with a strong commitment to public service and democratic ideals.
According to the party, Okumgba’s nomination was based on his political experience, organizational capacity, leadership qualities and understanding of the socio-political dynamics of Rivers State.
He will contest alongside the ADC’s governorship candidate, Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson, as the party seeks to challenge for power in the 2027 governorship election.
The ADC said the Pidomson-Okumgba ticket embodies competence, experience and inclusiveness, expressing confidence that the duo possesses the leadership qualities needed to promote good governance, accountability, economic growth, security and equal opportunities in the state.
The party also appealed to its members, supporters and residents of Rivers State to unite behind its governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 polls.
