The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has said that young people are the backbone of society, and addressing their needs and concerns is crucial for sustainable development.
The Director General of the Foundation Dr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, asserted this during a press conference held in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him, the Foundation realizing the importance of the young people is organizing a roundtable in response to the pressing challenges faced by the youth in Northern Nigeria and indeed across our nation
He disclosed that the Roundtable on Northern Nigeria Youth Development is scheduled to take place on November 19th and 20th, 2024, at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.
“In preparation for this event, we have made extensive efforts to invite key stakeholders from across the country. This includes government officials, representatives from civil society organizations, and leaders from various sectors.
“ We believe it is essential to hear the voices of the youth themselves, and we have invited a diverse group of young individuals to share their perspectives on the issues that affect them.
“Over the two-day program, expert panelists will lead discussions on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to employment opportunities, health challenges, the Almajiri system, entrepreneurship, insecurity, agriculture, and education.
“These discussions will provide a platform for critical engagement and exchange of ideas aimed at developing actionable solutions.
“After the roundtable, all recommendations will be compiled along with implementation strategies, and these will be forwarded to the relevant authorities for consideration and action.
‘We believe that through collaboration and shared commitment, we can create a brighter future for our youth.
“I urge everyone to engage with us in this important dialogue and to support our efforts in addressing the challenges faced by the youth in Northern Nigeria. Together, we can pave the way for meaningful change.” He said.
