Adebayo Adeyemi Rashidat Wins 2026 Ogun Women Run, Pockets N500, 000 Prize

Adebayo Adeyemi Rashidat on Saturday emerged winner of the 2026 Ogun Women Run, a 5km women-focused race organised by Brussel Sports Management Limited, crossing the finish line in 30:15.61.
The race, held in Abeokuta, started from Sapon and terminated at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, with about 1,000 women participating in the colourful event aimed at promoting fitness, wellness and women empowerment.
Adebayo Adeyemi Rashidat finished ahead of Alawode Omotayo Adiat, who came second with a time of 31:09.46, while Akoni Oluwanifemi secured third place after completing the race in 31:18.65.
For her victory, Adebayo Adeyemi Rashidat went home with a N500,000 cash prize, while Alawode Omotayo Adiat received N300,000 for finishing second. Akoni Oluwayemi earned N200,000 for finishing third.
At the end of the race, the Managing Director of Brussel Sports Management Limited, Mrs Yetunde Johnson, expressed satisfaction with the successful organisation of the event and commended her team for their dedication.
“We are very pleased with how the race turned out today. The turnout was impressive and the organisation was smooth. I want to thank my team for their hard work, the Ogun State Government and all our sponsors who came together to make this event a success.”
The race was flagged off by the former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, alongside the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Adijat Adeleye expressed delight at the turnout of participants, commending Ogun women for being part of what she described as a historic moment.
“It is inspiring to see so many women come out to participate and be part of history. This event highlights the strength, unity and determination of Ogun women”.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka reiterated the state government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for sports to thrive.
He noted that the Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, will continue to support sporting initiatives while also encouraging greater private sector involvement in sports development.
Dignitaries present at the event included the President of the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria, Mr Sunday Odebode, the Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Mrs Yetunde Olopade, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Youth Development, Hon. Tunde Delu, among others from different walks of life.
