Former Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Olusade Adesola, has bagged the prestigious United Nations Global Women Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to issues of women advancement.
A letter of congratulations signed by the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Global Women Foundation, Ms. Erika Julian, and made available to journalists, revealed that Adesola’s outstanding contributions have earned him a well-deserved spot at the “Empower Her Shoes Summit’ and awards.
The statement further revealed that the Foundation honoured 25 women and men from across the African continent with the Women Empowerment Peace Ambassadors certification for their exceptional role played in making a difference in the society.
It adds: “The President Obama Legacy Lifetime Award” recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to society in alignment with the values championed by President Barack Obama during his time in office.
“Recipients exemplify leadership, integrity, and innovation in areas such as public service, social justice, education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and global diplomacy.
“These distinguished individuals have demonstrated remarkable dedication in their respective sectors, significantly impacting the communities they serve.
“Their unwavering commitment to supporting women, youth, and children in underprivileged communities goes beyond the call of duty.
“The award not only recognizes their achievements but also provides a platform for knowledge-sharing and engagement with industry peers on a global scale.”
Participating countries in the award include; United States, South Africa, Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Kenya, Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Mozambique.
The United Nations Women Foundation Awards and Trinity Girls Network are dedicated to supporting programmes that involve women as key stakeholders in preventing and countering violent extremism in their communities.
