The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Olusade Adesola had appealled to the Chinese Government to assist the Administration to complete the remaining segment of 5.76km of Lot 1A Kubwa Abuja Rail Mass Transit, to ease prevailing traffic bottlenecks in the city.
He expressed confidence that upon completion, the project would shore up the revenue profile of the Administration as well as reduce traffic congestion residents of Kubwa go through on daily basis.
Adesola spoke during a courtesy visit to Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Cui Jian Chun in his official residence at 301 Diplomatic Drive, Central Business District, Abuja, to further strengthen the mutual collaborations between the FCTA and the People’s Republic of China.
He equally commended the Chinese Government for its prompt intervention in the area of installation of traffic lights across different intersections in the nation’s capital city.
According to the Permanent Secretary, this intervention will assist immensely to address the menace of traffic gridlock in the Territory.
Stressing areas of investments and opportunities available in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary called on China to take advantage of the Administration’s Livestock project in Pyaiko, Gwagwalada to invest in livestock farming as well as planting of special trees.
Responding, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Cui Jian Chun pledged to support the FCT Administration in the areas of security, infrastructural development, agriculture, food security and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Chun, who described Abuja as relatively secure for investment and business, revealed that as part of effort to industrialize the economy of the Territory, China is investing heavily in electricity.
He further explained that the relationship between China and Nigeria have continued to grow on different frontiers, particularly in the areas of trade, exchange of technical ideas, ICT and economic development.
