Abuja — Sarah Ivie Adidi, a leading aspirant for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, has called for the integration of traditional rulers into the governance framework of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to enhance grassroots stability and development.

Adidi made the call during a high-level engagement with newly elevated first-class monarchs in the territory, where she described the traditional institution as an “indispensable stabilising force” for socio-economic advancement.

The visit included meetings with HRH Alhaji Awwal Musa Ijakoro II (Sarkin Bwari), HRH Dr. Usman Nga Kupi (Sa’peyi of Garki), and HRH Alhaji Ismaila Mohammed (Sarkin Karshi). Discussions focused on the critical role of traditional rulers in conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

She emphasised that effective implementation of government policies at the grassroots requires strong collaboration between elected officials and traditional leaders.

“Our traditional rulers are the bridge between the government and the people. Maintaining peaceful coexistence among our diverse communities requires recognising their fatherly leadership and their closeness to the daily realities of the people,” Adidi said.

As political activities intensify ahead of the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency race,

Adidi stated that her campaign is anchored on inclusive representation. She noted that her legislative agenda would prioritise security and infrastructure development by leveraging the influence of traditional institutions to ensure community participation and acceptance.

She added that aligning modern governance with established traditional structures would promote sustainable peace and regional stability.

In their responses, the monarchs commended Adidi for recognising the importance of traditional institutions in the democratic process. They noted that such engagement fosters inclusiveness and ensures that the needs of various communities are adequately represented.

describing the engagement as a step toward strengthening ties between the people and aspiring representatives.
