The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of House of Justice Barrister Gloria Mabeiam Ballason has called on the Nigerian Army to reassess its strategy in addressing the pressing issues of banditry and insecurity in the country.
She asserted this during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Ochekpe Okolo, ahead of the 9th Annual House of Justice Summit & Banquet.
According to her, the Summit-themed: “Security, Justice and National Re-Orientation” is aimed at addressing the pressing issue of insecurity in Nigeria and seeking ways to find a lasting solution to the insecurity plaguing the nation.
“We know that this task is not impossible. Once upon a time, terrorism and insurgency were alien to our country. Today, it has become commonplace,” Ballason said.
Ballason emphasized the need for collective action to end the bloodshed and insecurity in Nigeria. “Every family has either had a loved one killed, had their mother, daughter, or sister raped, their brothers recruited into insurgency, or their homes razed down. Our cities are not safe. Our villages are not safe. The roads are not safe, our beds are sometimes our end,” she lamented.
The CEO of the House of Justice also highlighted the progress made by Nigeria in combating terrorism.
