The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced an investigation into reports alleging that a recent air strike in Jilli may have resulted in civilian casualties.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the air strike, conducted on April 11, 2026, was reported to have possibly affected a local market in the area.

Ejodame said the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) had directed the immediate deployment of the Civilian Harm Accident and Investigation Cell (CHAI-Cell) to the location to carry out a fact-finding mission.

He noted that the NAF treats all reports of civilian harm with seriousness and empathy, stressing that the protection of innocent lives remains a core priority in its operations.
