ADSIEC briefs political parties leadership on local govt polls in Adamawa

The Adamawa state Independent Electoral Commission,ADSIEC, has briefed the political parties leadership and its Electoral officers on the preparation for the local government councils in the state.
Chairman of the Commission, ADSIEC, Mohammad Umar Jabu made this disclosure in Yola, Tuesday, after the meeting with the political parties and state chairmen.
He stressed that the Commission has transmitted to the state government a budget proposal for the election exercise slated for 13th July 2024.
Jabu who vehemently declined to announce the figure for the proposed budget stated that the budget would cover logistics and other administrative considerations during the exercise.
Jabu explained that the schedules for the elections were shared with the political parties leadership, pledging to conduct free and fair election in the state.
On the cost of nomination forms for the chairmanship and counsellorship positions,Jabu said that form for chairman post stand at N250,000 while that of counsellorship goes for N50,000 respectively.
Earlier in his speech at the meeting, state chairman of Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC), Bello Babajo congratulated the Commission’s new leadership for their appointments by the state Governor.
Babajo called on all political parties to encourage their interested members come out and purchase nomination forms and contest various positions of chairmanship and counsellorship in the state.
“We are fully ready and equip to partake in the election,we urge all to play the game according to the rule as Adamawa peoples are peace loving humans.”
