The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has said that over 514 residents have been arraigned before its environmental mobile court sitting in the Federal Capital City (FCC), as part of its enforcement of waste service payment and other sanitation offences in the City.
It was learnt that the 514 residents were prosecuted for their alleged negative attitudes towards payment of liquid waste service rendered them, as well as nonchalant behaviour towards the upkeep of the environment.
This is coming on the heels of the on-going massive trial of defaulters living or doing business within the Abuja Metropolis. Our correspondent gathered that over 266 were also served with seal up order by the mobile court for failure to appear in the court and noncompliance with court injunctions over breach of AEPB Act.
According to AEPB Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. Samuel Musa,“the massive trail of defaulters in the Capital city is still going on in various districts within the FCC, so far over 514 offenders are facing trail by the environment Court, while 266 have been served with seal up order and bench warrant of arrest for not appearing in the court. “
