AFRA holds international conference

The leadership of Accounting and Finance Research Association (AFRA) in partnership with the Faculty of Management Sciences of the University of Abuja on Monday held the 7thinternational conference tagged “Accelerating Sustainable Growth in Africa: Imperativeness of Accounting and Finance Research”.
Speaking on behalf of AFRA president at the conference, the former president of the association, Dr. Abeh Ezeoha, said the conference was organized in order to bring the researchers as well as policy makers together to brainstorm on the issues relating to accounting and finance.
His words: “Every research is geared towards solving a real life problem. We do not do research because we are in love with writing. We do research because we want to contribute in solving the national problems. So, the outcome of every research should be considered whenever policies are being made”.
He appealed to the Federal Government to deem it necessary to take the Nigerian researchers along in the scheme of things.
Ezeoha, who is the head of department of the Accountancy and Banking/Finance at the Ebonyi State University, however, called on the university lecturers across the country to give update knowledge to their students.
Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Prof. Michael Adikwu who was represented at the occasion, expressing joy for the leadership of AFRA to choose his university to host the conference of this kind.
Meanwhile, the Director in charge of the monetary policy at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Moses K. Tule presented a paper with theme “Monetary Policy in Uncertain Times” during the conference among other resource persons.
