The first was on December 23, 2025, when the lawmakers approved a three-month extension of the capital budget, pushing the deadline to March 31, 2026, after repealing and re-enacting the 2024 and 2025 Appropriation Acts.
On March 31, 2026, both chambers of the National Assembly extended the implementation deadline from March 31 to June 30, and this was followed with another extension on June 15, 2026, when the lawmakers fixed September 30, as the terminal date of the 2025 capital budget.
The Federal Government budgeted ₦23.96 trillion for capital projects in the 2025. At the end of 2025, only N3.10 trillion, about 17.7 % of the 2025 capital budget was released.
