The Accountant General of the Federation, Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has task staff of the institution on their collective responsibility in maintaining and improving the Treasury’s reputation.

It could be recalled that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Accountant General of the Federation following the retirement of Oluwatoyin Madehin on March 7, 2025.

The AGF made this known while addressing workers as he assumed office in Abuja.

He stated that it is the duty of account officers to work together to achieve the objectives of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

He gave assurance of his commitment to enhancing the perception of Nigeria’s treasury.

“During my interview, when I was asked what I would do differently to change the image of the Treasury House, I wanted to turn the question back to you: What will you do differently to correct the image of the OAGF? The question is to all staff members.”

“Each one of us must work to change the perception of the country’s treasury.”

While soliciting the support of staff, the AGF pledged not to victimize anyone but to work as a listening leader.

“I want everyone to have the spirit of togetherness. I am not part of any group, and I am not going to polarize the office. If I fail, everyone here has failed. I am ready to commit myself to the service of the public.”

Ogunjimi reiterated that he would be professional in the discharge of his duties.

“I have been a victim of a chief executive officer firing directors they don’t like. ‘I don’t like him. Please remove him.’ I am not going to be that leader,” he assured.

He encouraged open communication, inviting everyone to talk to them if they have any issues or concerns.

He reiterated the importance of unity and support, emphasizing that everyone should work together to achieve common goals.

AGF highlighted the need for transparency and fairness in dealing with complaints and issues, while reaffirming his commitment to the institution and his readiness to support everyone in their roles.
