The Agricultural Business Giants, Export Trade Group(ETG) has set to boost Nigerians farmers in the areas of productivity and profitability to help them bring the best out of what they produce so that they can take the maximum production and also invest in herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides and to use the best seed.
This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of Exports Trade Group(ETG) Ashish Lakhotia during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
, We have been working with various governments in Sub-Saharan Africa to educate the policy populations, and private sector organizations to educate on the best agriculture practices, working with extension officers to work together with them on these agricultural practices.
He said, “There are 70 lead agronomists, and there are several Junior agronomists who work with the farmers on similar demand, firstly, for agri inputs, but more importantly, to create a sense of urgency to go for the best practices so that the yield goes up significantly.
“We believe that Nigeria is the largest importer and distributor of agri inputs in Sub-Saharan Africa and we want to continue on that track to work together, “he said.
Speaking further, he noted that organizations are looking for able and to create an affordable input program, which farmers see as beneficial for them, these are some of the things that we do together for building sustainable agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa.
On the challenge, he explained that a lot of challenges farmers faced at times is the problem of not being able to apply fertilizers at the right time because of a lack of affordability but also lack availability.
“Over the period, we have developed infrastructure in various regions. So have hubs then support the satellite centers from where the move fertilizes, as and when the demand comes up”.
Speaking also, Global Head of Agrochem And Seed Business ETG Dubai, Dr. Iyad Takrouri said,” We are providing the farmers with the best seed quality, the best and the latest insecticides, fungicides, and other crop protection that can help them to combat the pests that are attacking the crop and also getting the highest deals and the best quality seeds on time.”
“So, basically, at ETG, we are partnering with the farmers to help them bring the best out of the produce in order so that they can take the maximum production, they need to invest in herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and to use the best seed.
Speaking on the timeliness of the program, he said, We are here to stay and we are committed to Nigeria and its agriculture we know that Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa and the highest populated country. So we are here to stay.
He said the farmer must succeed for us to succeed. So we are a commercial entity and we are here as an investor, but we have to make sure that we are providing the best solutions for the farmers and that they are getting the best outcome of them because it’s a continuous business.
“We want to be here for hundreds of years as long as we can. So this is why we have to make sure that the farmers are succeeding and for us to prosper and grow, we are here to provide the best solutions and we want the farmers to profit succeed, and prosper. Because this is the future for us and for our industry and the people in Nigeria and across the world”.
On his part, Business Development Manager, Nigeria,Ogu Goodluck, explained that one of the key things I know is that as a Nigerian, the best you can do for the economy apart from the fact that you’re doing business is to ensure that we have a sustainable, investment of people coming into the countries that will bring what would address the various challenges we are facing in the country
