Agriculturist urges FG to provide facilities to encourage private investments

He said that for now, inadequate infrastructure was a major challenge facing agro-business.

“Crops can be grown commercially with the aid of equipment and these equipment cannot function without electricity.

“Also, by providing basic facilities, it will attract more private investors to venture into the agriculture business,” Ganiyu said.

According to Ganiyu, electricity and access roads should be given urgent attention to help the sector.

He said that private sector investment in agriculture could enjoy a boost with availability or developed infrastructure such as silos and electricity supply to enable storage.

He added that development of access roads from the rural areas to urban centres where most farm produce were demanded could also increase private participation in agriculture development nationwide. (NAN)
