A Former Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives in Lagos State and All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for Lagos West, Enoch Ajiboso, has pledged to give a robust representation if voted into Senate in 2015.
Ajiboso, a former two-term chairman of Agege Local Government Area, speaking yesterday at the secretariat of Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ikeja, said the Senate is meant for experienced politicians and therefore people who are experienced like him should be given the opportunity to represent his senatorial district.
According to him, “My agenda of going to the Senate is to give a robust representation to the people of Lagos West Senatorial District and the people of Nigeria at large. I will ensure that through lobbying and whatever we have within our system, to make sure that we have good legislation; good laws that can make Nigeria to be a comfortable place.
“Lagos State has been good to me and I believe I owe the community of Lagos, service and that is why I want to serve Lagos. I am going to fight to let the nation know the exceptionalism of Lagos State. I will fight for special recognition for Lagos State.
“I believe that Lagos should be given special status like Abuja. I believe once Lagos State is fixed, the entire problems in Nigeria are fixed. So, we would go there and give robust representation and we will make sure that we talk about employment, honesty, transparency and do a lot of things regarding the affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ajiboso said.
He also expressed confidence that his chances of becoming a senator in 2015 are very bright, adding that as an experienced politician, he is confident of getting the support of his party and the people of his senatorial district.
“My chances are very bright. Senate as it is known in our culture should be for the elderly; it is not for the youth. Although age is not everything, the Senate is supposed to be for the experienced people and those who have been tested with power before. It requires wisdom and experience to be in the Senate and that is why I want to be in the Senate”, he said.
