The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has described the presence of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, at the wedding fatiha of Amir, the son of Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, as a sign of a united Nigeria.
Akpabio, who spoke to journàlists after the event in Kano on Friday, noted that the presence of many high-profile personalities at the wedding ceremony attests to the fact that Senator Barau is a peaceful man of the people.
“You can see that even Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and his people are here; this tells you that Nigeria will remain united as one entity,” he said.
The wedding Fatiha, graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima, was between Amir and Bilkisu Aliyu Sani Madaki, the daughter of the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Aliyu Sani Madaki.
The event was held at the Isyaka Rabiu Juma’at Mosque, Goron Dutse, Kano State.
Meanwhile, a statement issued yesterday by the Special Adviser to senator Barau on Media and publicity, Ismail Mudashiru said that Kano is agog as Vice President, Senator Kashim Shetima, President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, governors, senators and other dignitaries attended the wedding fatiha of the son of the Deputy Senate President, Abdullahi Barau Jibrin (Amir).
The statement said the wedding fatiha took place at the Isyaka Rabiu Juma’at Mosque, Goron Dutse, Kano State after the juma’at prayers.
Bilkisu, the daughter of the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rep Aliyu Sani Madaki is the bride.
It said Vice President Shettima served as the representative of the groom, while Speaker Abbas stood for the bride.
