Ali confesses to Dauda Lawal’s N500m alleged smear media campaign targeting Matawalle

Date:

Ahmad Ali, previously known for amplifying coordinated attacks against the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, has publicly sought forgiveness for his role in what he described as a politically sponsored smear campaign.

Ali said he was part of a network set up with the sole aim of damaging the reputation of the former Zamfara State governor.

He alleged that the operation was directly funded by the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal.

According to him, the network included social media influencers, mainstream media operatives and politicians within Zamfara and beyond.

Their brief, he claimed, was to create and spread false narratives, incite public outrage against Matawalle and push for his removal from office.

Ali further alleged that about N500m was shared among those recruited to sustain the propaganda.

He said the funds were used to bankroll online misinformation, coordinated attacks and sponsored narratives.

Expressing regret, Ali said he could no longer carry the burden of deliberate falsehoods and appealed to Matawalle for pardon, insisting the minister had only served Nigeria with commitment and integrity.
