Aliyu condoles Sultan over death of stepmother

The Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, on Thursday condole with the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, over the death of his stepmother, Hajiya Nana Asma’u, who passed away last Tuesday.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Sokoto by Abubakar Bawa, Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House.
Governor Aliyu described the death of Hajiya Nana Asma’u as a great loss not only to the royal family, but also to Sokoto State and the country as a whole.
According to him, her passing has created a huge vacuum that would be difficult to fill, considering the motherly role she played within the royal family.
“The passing of Nana Asma’u was indeed one death too many.
“I want to appeal to Your Eminence and other members of the royal family to accept this great loss as something ordained by Almighty Allah,” he said.
The governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, accept her good deeds and admit her into the best abode of Paradise.
Responding, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, thanked Governor Aliyu for the condolence visit and prayed to Almighty Allah to reward him abundantly.
“We pray that you will also live long to continue to serve humanity,” the Sultan added.
Governor Aliyu was accompanied on the condolence visit by the State APC Leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; the State APC Chairman, Haruna Adiya; members of the legislature; commissioners; APC Zonal Secretary, Isah Saddiq Achida; special advisers; senior special assistants; as well as other political associates.
Late Nana Asma’u died at the age of 100.
Special prayers were offered by Malam Bashiru Gidan Kanawa, seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for the late Nana Asma’u and other departed souls.
Similarly, Governor Ahmed Aliyu also paid condolence visits to some bereaved families in Sokoto metropolis.
They included the family of Abdullahi Kafinta of Rungumi area, who died at the age of 80, Malam Abdullah Na Hali of the same Kalhu area, who died at the age of 85; and the family of late Malama Aminatu Shehu of Tudun Wada area, who died at the age of 117, leaving behind 11 children.
Other bereaved families visited by the Governor were those of Aisha Umar, who passed away at the age of 87; Abubakar Abdulraheem; and Alhaji Garba Shugaba, aged 85, all of Tudun Wada area.
The Governor also visited the families of Ahmad Mode of Gagi area and that of late, Aliyu Musa Mana of Mana area.
At all the places visited, prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
