Alu TV Trains Reporters Ahead of 2027 General Elections

ALU TV International Nigeria has organized a one-day in-house training for its news reporters and presenters ahead of the 2027 General Elections, with a charge to uphold professionalism, accuracy and ethical standards in election reporting.
The training, held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 in Sokoto, was themed: “Media and Elections: Roles, Ethics and Professional Responsibilities Ahead of the 2027 General Elections.”
Speaking at the event, the General Manager of ALU TV International Nigeria, Bashar Abubakar, said the station remains committed to credible, balanced and development-oriented journalism.
He stated that as political activities intensify, journalists must avoid misinformation, hate speech and external pressure, and instead focus on providing the public with verified and factual information.
“As we approach the 2027 General Elections, our responsibility is to promote peaceful democratic participation, national unity and the integrity of the electoral process,” Abubakar said.
He revealed that the training covered the role of the media in elections, the responsibilities of TV Reporters during campaigns, and the professional relationship between journalists, political parties and candidates.
The General Manager also appreciated the Founder of ALU TV International Nigeria,, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his continued support to the station, and thanked the resource persons for sharing their expertise.
The participants were urged to maximize the training to better prepare for coverage of the 2027 polls, with INEC scheduled to begin official campaigns on August 19, 2026.
The Chairman of the occasion, Abubakar Dangusau, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto on Electronic Media, commented the management of the station for organizing the all-important training session.
Dangusau, a former Managing Director of Alu TV International Nigeria, said that the training cannot come at a better time than when the presidential campaigns are billed to commence in the next four days.
One of the Resource Persons at the training session, Dr Umar Magaji Umar, from the Political Science Department of the Sokoto State University, presented a paper titled, ‘ The Media and Electoral Process: Roles, Responsibilities, and Challenge in Voter Education, Credible Elections, and Good Governance ‘.
The immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council and its National Ex-officio, Zone ‘A’, Dalhatu Abdullahi, also pressed another paper titled, ‘Role of A TV Reporter During Political Activities and Elections’.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto, Bashir Rabe Mani, also presented a paper titled ‘ Working Guide For Journalists: Ethical, Diligent Political Campaigns and Elections’ Coverage’.
The three Resource Persons,who applauded the management of the TV Station, underscored the nexus between sound training and ensuring diligent, ethical and professional performance of duties by journalists.
A cross section of the participants who also lauded the management of the station for affording them the invaluable opportunity of improving their capacities, promised to put the knowledge they gained to proper use before during and after the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
