Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has firmly addressed speculation about Julian Alvarez’s future, insisting the striker intends to remain at the club.

Speaking ahead of Atletico’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan, Cerezo dismissed rumours of a release clause: “This talk of a release clause for Julian is completely invented.”

“Julian has a contract and he must honour it, just like everyone else,” he added. “He is a player we value, and he wants to stay here. So what more reassurance is needed?”

The club president also stressed that Atletico are not considering offers for Alvarez or any other player. “Of course, if a player wants to leave and a club comes in, then he will go. But as of now, no player has expressed that desire.”

Cerezo clarified that the recent investment from Apollo does not influence the club’s position on the Argentinian international: “Our stance was the same before and after their arrival. This was always part of our plan.”
