The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the FCT, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikanlangu, on Tuesday inaugurated a 6-man steering committee to assess the programmes, progress, prospects and challenges facing the Local Education Authority (LEA) in the Area. The members of the committee are Henry Gambo Sakoma; Chairman, Dr. Aminu Sheriff Ibrahim Secretary, Mr Joshua Tukura; member, Iyaji David; member, Franca Ada Akpan; member and Hon. Obiora Arinze, member.
While speaking at the inauguration, Maikalangu, charged the members of the committee to do everything possible within their powers to bring LEA Primary Schools to enviable level.
He asked the committee to visit all Primary Schools in the Council with a view to review and evaluate their educational standard as well as ascertain the healthy situation of the facilities.
He called for standard curriculum in Primary Schools across the Area Council to enhance learning of the pupils.
He then urged the committee to investigate all illegal primary schools in the area, as well as checkmate the activities of LEA staff in terms of corrupt practices and tasked them to fish out ghost workers.
Maikalangu gave the committee 30 days to submit their report, as he instructed the committee to advise the Council on the instructional materials needed at the LEA Primary Schools.
In his response, the Chairman of the committee, Henry Gambo Sakoma, said he would discharge his duties effectively.
