AMAC Football Coaches Unity Cup: N-Youth Sports Academy thrash De Warriors in opener

N-Youth Sports Academy on Monday thrashed De Warriors FC 3-0 in the opening match of the 3rd edition of the AMAC Football Coaches Unity Cup.

The opening match which had some crème de la crème in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT football come out in numbers to enjoy the best of grassroots football, saw the De Warriors unable to raise their weapons.

Smaller in statue but determined and energetic, the youthful N-Youth Sports Academy boys ran riot in the early first stage  in search of the opening goal.

Their adventurousness and purposeful interchange of passes yielded dividend in the 25th minute after Samshudeen Mohammed scored the first goal for the Nigeria Tulip International College, NTIC boys.

Six minutes later, Peter Edokpolor who scored two goals in the encounter and went home with the Man of the Match award, scored the second goal in the 31st minute. 

The second stanza saw limited chances but Peter Edokpolor scored his second to hand his side a 3-0 victory. 

Speaking in an interview, coach of the side, Ernest Enya said his boys played to instructions and were not afraid of their opponents despite their size. 

“We are grateful to God Almighty for the first win. I told my boys to forget about the size, use the space. Even the size (of the opponents) turned to our advantage as they exploited the space,” he said.

While stating that all his players are students of the Nigeria Tulip International College, NTIC Abuja, Coach Enya said that his target in the tournament is to win the next match

“All my players are students and most of them are on scholarships from Senior Secondary 1 to 3 

“My target in the competition is to win the next match and we take it one at a time,” he stayed.
