Former governor of Ogun State and national leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has described the incumbent Governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun as a “sectional governor” and a stooge of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Osoba, who spoke at a meeting with a cross section of traditional rulers which included chiefs, Baales and Olorituns in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state, alleged that Amosun cited most of his projects in Abeokuta at the detriment of other regions of the state.

While describing the governor as a stooge of former President Obasanjo, Osoba noted that most supporters of Amosun are loyalists of the ex-president.

He also accused Amosun of abandoning the Ago-Iwoye bridge which was initiated by his (Osoba) administration only to be building bridges at Sapon, Itoku and Iyana Mortuary in Abeokuta.

Osoba opined that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state had failed to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state, urging the electorate to send the party packing with their votes in next month’s general elections.

He flayed the state government’s claim that no fewer than 50,000 youths had been employed in the last three and half years.

The former governor decried the “injustice” allegedly meted out to the deputy governor of the state, Prince Segun Adesegun, by the governor.

He said the shabby treatment of the deputy governor was a slap to the people of Ijebuland, which he noted Adesegun represented.

Osoba said, “We gave Adesegun as Amosun’s deputy because of his experience as commissioner for works. We had expected that the governor would tap from Adesegun’s wealth of experience in governance but the governor chose otherwise and st4arted constructing bridges where there is no water.

“Amosun really dealt with Adesegun; he maltreated him. Ijebu people should not see the insult meted out to Adesegun as that of Adesegun alone. They should see it as a collective insult. Therefore, it is time for Ijebu people to fight back with their votes. I’m begging you to stop the maltreatment of the Ijebus with your votes.

Osoba alleged that the state government was planning to mop up Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the elections, urging the voters to beware and resist any form of inducement.
