Anambra guber: Soludo not a threat to me – Ukachukwu

Date:

By Jude Opara, Abuja

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 8 Anambra state governorship election, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu on Wednesday boasted that the incumbent governor and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is not a threat to him.

Ukachukwu who spoke in Abuja shortly after he received his Certificate of Return from the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje said he has all what it takes to defeat Governor Soludo because the people know what he can do and also what he has done, even when he was not in power.

The former member of the House of Representatives further revealed that he has invested in the lives of the people, with over 12 factories which he said has given employment to over 2000 people and more than 200 indigent students given scholarship to study even in private universities.

“I have invested in my people, I have given over 200 people scholarship to study in the universities. I am about the second largest employer of labour in the state after the state government with about 12 factories that are functioning.

“I have constructed roads that have stood the test of time in the state and the people decided to support me because they know what I have done and what I will do if I become the governor “.

On the fear that the APC may be fragmented with the anger of some of those who lost out in the primary election leaving the party, he said; “Even the person that is holding the PDP ticket in Anambra was former APGA. So if somebody has left APC, somebody has also left APGA, too. It is not something that is new”.

Ukachukwu further rubbished the insinuation that President Bola Tinubu has assured Governor Soludo of his support saying that as a seasoned party man, Tinubu will rather support his own party member instead of someone from another party.

He also questioned why Soludo would want to crave for the support of the president if he feels he and his party were popular.

“There is nothing like that. Our president is a party man to the core. He cannot fall, and he will not fall for that cheap propaganda. He has not decided to, and he will never. How can a president who always support his party to win go and say he will support you? Why go to beg when he can support you?

“If APGA is sellable without the center, why are they begging the centre? Why is he relying on the president for presidential support? What is popular to win if he is popular?

“Soludo has not presented himself for election before. This is the first time he is contesting for an election because Governor Obiano used the power of incumbency, joined us together, and then we all supported Soludo to win. That was how he won.

“This is the first time he is presenting himself to Anambra to vote for him as a person. And now, we want to know whether he is popular or not. Don’t forget Mbadinuju did one term. What stops Soludo from doing only one term?

It could be recalled that the Primary Election Committee, under the Chairmanship of Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Bassey Otu, in its report, declared Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu the winner of the election with 1,455 votes.

At the presentation Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, thanked the Primary Election Committee for delivering a fair, credible and transparent election.

Dr. Ganduje charged all stakeholders, particularly the other aspirants and their supporters to work for the Party’s victory in the November 8, 2025 Anambra state gubernatorial election.
