Anniversary: Candido marks mid-term with children in orphanages

Date:

To mark his mid-term in office, Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Adamu Candido yesterday visited and distributed relief items to less privileged children in orphanages in Gishiri and Piwoyi communities.
Precisely, Candido, accompanied by some Council officials visited the Bema Home for the Less Privileged, Piwoyi; and Hope for Survival Orphanage in Gishiri, respectively.
Some of the items distributed include 20 mattress, cartons of noodles, sanitary pads, toiletries and amongst others during the visit, which was to commemorate one and six months of his three years term.
The AMAC boss while distributing the assorted items, explained that the gesture was for the welfare of the beneficiaries (orphans and vulnerable children) and to show love to them.
He added that from what he saw during the visit, there are children there who will emerge and become leaders in the society.
“We have not forgotten you, because you are people of great potentials, and with good health and education, you will become great people in the society.
“People of AMAC love you, and it’s because we love you that we have come to celebrate with you on the occasion of 1 and 6 months of our administration’s tenure.
“So, irrespective of status, read and study your books very well, so that you can become people of importance in the society,” he stated.
Responding, Cephas Thaddeus, Manager , Hope for Survival Orphanage, Gishiri, noted that it was the first time they are receiving such gifts from a sitting AMAC Chairman or any government agency.
Promising to ensure judicious use of the gift items, he however solicited for more support of the Council, to further advance the welfare of vulnerable children.
