The Super Eagles have decided not to travel to Marrakech on Thursday and will also suspend all training activities until the outstanding AFCON 2025 bonus payments are fully settled.
The unpaid bonuses cover victories recorded in four matches during the Group stage and Round of 16 matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Mozambique.
The 2013 AFCON Winners are due to play Algeria on Saturday in the Quarter-final of the AFCON 2025 by 5pm Nigerian time.
According to media reports, the team is currently holding a “pay-to-play” temper tantrum just days before a massive quarter-final clash with Algeria.
Instead of studying game tape, practicing penalties or doing things that will improve their game, the players and coaching staff are busy worrying over unpaid allowances, vowed to boycott training and are refusing to even board the plane to Marrakech on Thursday where they will face Algeria in the AFCON quarter final..
It could be recalled that in November last year, Nigeria’s quest for 2026 World Cups ticket was married at the Playoff tournament when the team boycotted training less than 48 hours to their match against Gabon.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the Summer world Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico after the lost 3-2 on penalty ro DR Cong in the final Playoff match.
