AOIYEO Urges Wike to Ensure Inclusive Appointments Across FCT Area Councils

Date:

The Abuja Original Inhabitants Youths Empowerment Organization (AOIYEO) has appealed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to ensure inclusive representation in appointments of Original Inhabitants (OIs) across the six area councils.

In a statement issued by the organization, AOIYEO called on the minister to prioritise balanced appointments that provide opportunities for various indigenous groups within the FCT. The group noted that such an approach would promote unity, fairness, and equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy.

The Executive Director of AOIYEO, Amb. Isaac David, emphasised the importance of inclusivity in governance, urging that all tribes within the territory be adequately represented in public appointments.

He also appealed to Senator Philip Aduda to engage with the FCT minister on the need to consider candidates from diverse tribal backgrounds when filling vacant positions across the area councils.

According to him, inclusive representation would strengthen social cohesion and foster a sense of belonging among all indigenous communities in the FCT.

The organisation reiterated its commitment to advocacy for fairness, unity, and progress in the Federal Capital Territory.
