As the Plateau state local government council elections take place today, the opossition All Progressive Congress (APC), in the state yesterday accused the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) was taking sides with ruling Peples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The APC which made the allegation in a statement signed by its state Interim Deputy Chairman, Garba Pankwal, said PLASIEC has unlawfully disqualified a good number of its candidates for the Tuesday’s election, adding that the decision taken to disqualify the party’s candidates was worrisome if the conduct of the eletions would be freeand fair.

The statement furthere maintained that ,”PLASIEC has no powers to disqualify candidates as contained in PLASIEC laws. If not checked, the recklessness of PLASIEC may be creating enough fertile grounds for litigations in law courts.

The statement added,”We use this medium to call on the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Dr Jonah David Jang, to know that PLASIEC again is leading Plateau state to Golgotha. The Governor who if he stands by the letter he wrote Governor Joshua Dariye in 2004 must discourage PLASIEC from returning Plateau State to the pre 2008 LGA.
