APC Chair dismisses Obi’s claim Tinubu tired of governing

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has rejected claims by Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that President Bola Tinubu is fatigued and no longer fit to govern Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, monitored in Abuja, Yilwatda described the allegation as unfounded, insisting that the president remains active, energetic and fully committed to leading the country.
According to him, Tinubu maintains a demanding work schedule, attending to state matters from morning until night, a routine he said contradicts suggestions that the president is tired.
Questioning Obi’s remarks, the APC chairman said the presidency should not be judged by physical strength but by commitment to governance and delivery of results.
“Is he going for boxing or a 400-metre race? Are you telling me that a president who works from morning till night is tired?” Yilwatda asked.
He further argued that the administration’s policies and projects demonstrate that Tinubu remains focused on fulfilling his campaign promises.
Yilwatda pointed to the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying over a million students and other beneficiaries have continued to enjoy the programme and would not support calls for the president to step aside.
He also cited major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, ongoing seaport developments in Calabar, Akwa Ibom, Port Harcourt, Ondo and Lagos, as well as airport modernization projects across the country, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development.
