From Muhammad Maitela, Damaturu
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Amb. Shehu Alhaji Mohammed has commended critical stakeholders across the state for their endorsement of Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, as the party’s preferred gubernatorial candidate ahead 2027 general elections.
Mohammed made the statement in Abuja when he accompanied Wali to the APC National Secretariat for submission of his completed Nomination/ Expression of Interest forms.
He described the decision as just, fair, and a product of careful consideration, particularly in recognising the long-standing loyalty noting that Yobe North Senatorial Zone has not produced a governor since the return of democracy in 1999.
He said the choice of Wali reflects a strong commitment to equity, inclusiveness, and justice within the party.
He further commended Governor Mai Mala Buni and former Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for their confidence in Baba Malam Wali, highlighting his remarkable tenure as Secretary to the State Government for over 11 years.
According to him, the trust reposed in Wali by two successive administrations underscores his competence, loyalty, and administrative depth.
Mohammed noted that Wali’s wealth of experience in governance and his proven track record position him as a capable leader who can consolidate on the achievements of the current administration while driving sustainable development across the state.
He added that the unity demonstrated by stakeholders in rallying behind a consensus candidate reflects the maturity and cohesion within the APC in Yobe State, which will ultimately strengthen the party’s chances of victory in 2027.
He called on party members, youth groups, and women across the state to support the decision of the stakeholders, stressing that collective effort remains key to sustaining the party’s dominance and ensuring continuity in governance.
Shehu Mohammed reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and pledged to work tirelessly with other party supporters to mobilize support for Baba Malam Wali, and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
