….urges stakeholders to support initiative

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Rufa’i Alkali has lauded President Bola Tinubu for creating the Ministry of Livestock Development.
Alkali, who made the commendation while speaking to newsmen, also appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the federal government for the success of the Ministry.
He said the Ministry of Livestock was long overdue, even as he commended the appointment of the former National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega in the committee.
“We really express our delight to the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in line with the renewed Hope Agenda for the creation of the Ministry of livestock development.
“This is something long over due because we have been calling the all previous government, in spite of long time planning for sustaining Agricultural development in livestock industry. We are more delighted that Mr. President is the chairman with also a high powered committee with distinguished, highly respected Academia, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
“We believe the livestock transformation plan now is on course. So, we call on all stakeholders to cooperate with the federal government to ensure that this succeeds,” he said.
It could be recalled that President Tinubu on Tuesday announced the creation of the Ministry after the Presidential Committee dedicated to the reform of the livestock industry submitted its report.
The Presidential Committee was created as part of efforts by the government to checkmate the incessant conflicts between livestock farmers and crop farmers in parts of the country.
