The All Progressive Congress(APC) chieftaincy, Comrade Peter Folajimi Buraimoh has commended the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo,over the remarkable progress that has been made in addressing the long and frustrating queues that have traditionally plagued the passport collection process in Nigeria.

Buraimoh made the commendation while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

The former House of Representatives candidate said , Under Tonji leadership, the Ministry of Interior has taken significant steps to alleviate the burdens faced by Nigerian citizens seeking to obtain their passports, and this deserves commendation.

He said ,historically, the experience of collecting a passport in Nigeria has been marred by endless queues, long waiting times, and an overall lack of organization.

Buraimoh noted that the passport collection in situation not only inconvenienced citizens but also hindered the efficient delivery of essential government services. However, thanks to your tireless efforts, this scenario is changing for the better.

In his words: “First and foremost, your commitment to improving the infrastructure of passport collection centers is evident and commendable.

” The modernization of these facilities, including the introduction of streamlined and automated processes, has significantly reduced waiting times and enhanced the overall experience for citizens.

“The investments made in upgrading technology and staff training have contributed to these positive changes, and we are already witnessing the benefits.

“Additionally, the expansion of passport collection centers and the introduction of online appointment scheduling have proved to be effective measures in reducing queues and ensuring a more convenient process for applicants. By allowing citizens to book appointments in advance, you have not only improved efficiency but also ensured that resources are allocated effectively, preventing overcrowding and long queues.

“Your leadership in advocating for transparency and accountability within the Ministry of Interior is also praiseworthy. The implementation of clear and accessible guidelines for passport applicants, along with public awareness campaigns, has empowered citizens to navigate the process more effectively.

“This transparency ensures that applicants are well-informed about the requirements and procedures, further reducing confusion and frustration.”

Continuing: “The ongoing efforts to collaborate with other government agencies, such as the Nigeria Immigration Service, have helped streamline the entire passport application and collection process. Such interagency coordination is a testament to your commitment to breaking down bureaucratic barriers and improving the experience for Nigerian citizens.

“I would also like to acknowledge your dedication to addressing corruption and bribery within the passport collection process. Your unwavering commitment to eradicating such practices has not only restored the faith of the Nigerian people in government institutions but has also contributed to a fair and just system for all applicants.
