Senator Muntari Muhammad Dandutse has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Katsina South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections following a voice vote affirmation by party delegates and stakeholders.
The affirmation exercise, held at the Isma’ila Isa Funtua Township Stadium, was witnessed by Dikko Umaru Radda alongside senior party officials, political stakeholders, and supporters from across the senatorial district.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of the APC National Headquarters Consensus Affirmation Committee chaired by Hon. Garba Saleh Gombe, who described the process in Katsina as peaceful and well coordinated.
According to him, the state demonstrated a high level of internal cohesion during the consensus arrangement, noting that the exercise reflected party discipline and effective leadership.
He said Katsina stood out among states participating in the APC’s ongoing nomination process due to what he described as structured engagement and conflict prevention mechanisms.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, said the consensus process had strengthened unity among APC members and stakeholders within the senatorial zone.
Nasir added that the arrangement reduced internal divisions and encouraged greater cooperation among party leaders and supporters.
Also present at the event were Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe; Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa; Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari; and Special Adviser on Intergovernmental and Development Partners, Hajiya Hadiza Maikudi.
Members of the House of Representatives earlier affirmed for second-term bids also attended the exercise, including Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu, Hon. Muhammad Aminu Ibrahim, Hon. Hamza Suleiman, and Hon. Ya’u Ahmed, alongside local government chairmen and party leaders from the zone.
