The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed sitting senators Abdulaziz Yari, Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, and Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u as winners of the party’s senatorial primary elections in Zamfara State.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee, Ishaq Bala, who declared the trio victorious after they polled the highest votes in their respective districts.
According to the results, Zamfara Central recorded 136,419 votes cast, with Bilbis securing 127,686 votes to defeat his closest challengers.
In Zamfara West, Yari recorded a near-unanimous victory with 125,235 votes out of 125,311 cast, while Ya’u emerged winner in Zamfara North after polling 65,642 votes.
Bala described the exercise as peaceful and transparent, noting that no incidents of violence or major disputes were recorded across the state.
He also urged any aggrieved aspirants to channel their complaints through the party’s appeal committee, which is scheduled to sit on May 28 in Gusau.
With the conclusion of the primaries, the APC says it is confident of internal cohesion in Zamfara as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
