APC slams ADC, insists poverty reducing in Nigeria

By Jude Opara, Abuja

The ruling All progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) over claims that the policies of the federal government has driven more Nigerians into abject poverty.

The National Publicity Secretary (NPS) of the APC, Felix Morka in a statement on Saturday said the ADC was only trying to deceive the people by flying the poverty kite, even when it has become clear that more Nigerians are pulling out of poverty since the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Morka further argued that there was a general consensus that the fuel subsidy be removed because of the inherent corruption that characterized it, adding that President Tinubu displayed courage by removing it from his first day in office.

The APC tackled the ADC for allegedly not proffering any solution, but only to criticize government even when they know that the country is gradually getting over its hard times.

“The ADC has not articulated a single alternative policy position or prescription of benefit to Nigerians. Condemning the APC and its policies has become its operating manifesto with absolutely nothing to offer by itself or by its power mongering leaders.

“The ADC continues to wallow in the idea that its empty attacks will somehow endear the party to Nigerians. But Nigerians are, by far, smarter than that. They know the Party that’s working for them and those that are only shooting the breeze and disturbing the airwaves like the ADC.

“The fuel subsidy removal represents one of the most consequential fiscal policy decisions in the country’s recent history. For decades, the fuel subsidy regime placed a devastating burden on public finances, gulping trillions of Naira, upwards of 90 percent of total revenue, annually while delivering limited benefits to ordinary Nigerians”.

Morka while urging Nigerians to continue to support the APC administration assured that the momentary harsh ear that goes with every economic reform will soon turn to the page of prosperity and harmony.
