The All Progressives Congress has won all 21 chairmanship positions and 239 councillorship seats in the Kogi State local government elections, according to results announced by the state electoral commission.
The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, Mamman Eri, declared the ruling party winner in all the contested positions at the commission’s headquarters in Lokoja.
The election was conducted across 239 wards and 3,508 polling units in the state.
However, voter turnout varied across locations visited by TVC News during the exercise.
Eri commended security operatives, election observers, ad hoc staff and other stakeholders for their conduct during the polls.
He said the commission remained committed to conducting elections that met democratic standards.
Meanwhile, civil society groups commended the peaceful conduct of the election but called for increased voter sensitisation and greater transparency to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
The groups also urged KOSIEC to address concerns arising from previous elections and take measures to improve public trust in future polls.
